Title: DEFUND THE DEFIANCE: Why Sanctuary Cities Must Lose Every Dime of Federal Funding

Sanctuary cities are openly defying federal immigration law — shielding criminal illegal aliens from deportation while collecting billions in American taxpayer dollars.

🚨

These cities have made a choice: protect illegal immigrants over law-abiding citizens. That choice should come with consequences.

If a city refuses to cooperate with federal law enforcement, why should federal taxpayers continue funding them? American tax dollars should not be used to fund lawlessness.

The message needs to be loud and clear — comply with the law, or lose the funding.

Should sanctuary cities lose all federal funding for refusing to cooperate with immigration enforcement?
SHOULD SANCTUARY CITIES LOSE ALL FEDERAL FUNDING FOR HARBORING ILLEGAL ALIENS?

After Kate Steinle, after Laken Riley, after the 10 million illegal crossings since 2021, the answer is not just yes. It is: What took so long?

1. What Sanctuary Cities Actually Do
A “sanctuary city” is not a place of refuge. It is a jurisdiction that refuses to cooperate with federal immigration law. They do not honor ICE detainers. They do not share arrest data. They release criminal illegal aliens back onto the streets instead of turning them over for deportation.

That is not compassion. That is harboring. And under 8 U.S.C. §1324, harboring illegal aliens is a federal crime. Yet mayors and governors do it openly, then demand federal money to pay for the consequences.

2. Kate’s Law and the Cost of Defiance
The sign in the photo says it all: “Pass Kate’s Law.”

Kate Steinle was murdered in 2015 by an illegal alien who had been deported five times and was wanted on a sixth deportation. San Francisco had him in custody. ICE asked to hold him. San Francisco said no. They released him because of their sanctuary policy. Two months later, Kate was dead on a pier.

How many more Kate’s do we need? How many more Laken Rileys? How many more children killed by drunk-driving illegals who were already arrested and released by sanctuary counties?

Every one of those deaths was preventable. Every one was caused by a local politician who chose to shield illegal aliens over protecting citizens.

3. You Break the Law, You Lose the Money
Federal funding is not an entitlement. It is a contract. You follow federal law, you get federal dollars. You defy federal law, you get cut off.

Sanctuary cities want it both ways. They want to ignore ICE, block Border Patrol, and refuse to share databases. Then they send their hands out for Department of Justice grants, FEMA money, transportation funds, and housing dollars.

That is over 200 billion per year going to states and cities that actively undermine federal immigration enforcement. New York City alone got 1.4 billion in FEMA migrant housing cash while refusing to let ICE into Rikers Island. Chicago got 145 million for migrant care while blocking deportations. California gets 42 billion in total federal funds while operating as a sanctuary state.

The money is fungible. If they have millions to house illegal aliens in hotels, they do not need your tax dollars for roads.

4. The Impact on Americans
Sanctuary policies do not just protect illegals. They punish citizens:

Higher Crime: The Center for Immigration Studies found sanctuary counties have higher violent crime rates. When you release illegals with rap sheets instead of deporting them, they reoffend in your neighborhood.
Overrun Schools and Hospitals: Denver schools added 15,000 migrant kids in one year. Teachers spend time on translation, not teaching. Your kid falls behind. ER wait times in sanctuary cities are now 8+ hours because hospitals cannot turn away anyone and illegal aliens use them as primary care.
Housing Crisis: New York is evicting seniors from nursing homes to house migrants. Massachusetts is spending 1 billion per year on hotels for illegals while Americans sleep in tents. Your rent goes up because demand spikes.
Budget Collapse: California’s 73 billion deficit is driven by illegal alien healthcare, schooling, and welfare. They cut police and fire to pay for it. Your safety is traded for their sanctuary.
5. The Legal Authority Already Exists
President Trump does not need a new law. 8 U.S.C. §1373 already bans states and cities from restricting communication with ICE. The Supreme Court in Arizona v. United States affirmed that immigration enforcement is a federal power.

The administration can and should invoke federal defunding immediately:

No DOJ Byrne Grants to any jurisdiction that refuses ICE detainers.
No FEMA reimbursement for cities that declare themselves sanctuaries.
No HUD housing funds to cities that house illegal aliens ahead of veterans.
No DOT money until they comply with 287(g) agreements.
If you want to act like a sovereign nation, you can fund yourself like one.

6. The Hypocrisy of “Sanctuary”
These mayors say “immigrants make us stronger” while shipping them to suburban towns at midnight. They call walls racist while living in gated communities. They demand federal money while breaking federal law.

Martha’s Vineyard declared itself a sanctuary. They got 50 migrants and called the National Guard in 24 hours. El Paso and Yuma get 5,000 per day and are told to be “compassionate.”

If sanctuary policies are so great, why do sanctuary mayors bus migrants to red states? Because even they know it is a disaster. They just want you to pay for it.

7. What Happens When We Defund Them
Cut the money and three things happen fast:

Cities Comply: Watch how quickly Chicago starts honoring ICE detainers when 2 billion in federal grants disappears.
Self-Deportation: When the free hotels, debit cards, and legal shields vanish, economic migrants go home.
Deterrence Returns: The next caravan sees that “sanctuary” is gone. The border surge slows without a single new law.
Bottom Line
A nation without borders is not a nation. A city that harbors lawbreakers should not get paid by the law-abiding.

Kate Steinle would be alive if San Francisco obeyed federal law. Laken Riley would be alive if Athens, Georgia was not a sanctuary county. Every week brings a new name, a new angel mom, a new avoidable tragedy.

Congress has the bill. President Trump has the pen. The American people have the answer.

SHOULD SANCTUARY CITIES LOSE ALL FEDERAL FUNDING FOR HARBORING ILLEGAL ALIENS?

If you believe federal law matters, yes.
If you believe taxpayer money is for taxpayers, yes.
If you believe Kate’s Law should have passed nine years ago, yes.

No more funding for defiance. No more sanctuary for lawbreakers. American dollars for American citizens.

Share this if you are done paying for cities that refuse to protect you.
