This trick makes cleaning your cheese grater super easy!

Who doesn’t love some grated cheese over pretty much any dish? It can spruce up any pasta or risotto, but you do have to go through the trouble of actually grating the cheese. Although cheese graters are very handy items to have around, we’re always a little reluctant when it comes to using them because we know we also have to clean it again. And that’s a real pain… At least, it used to be because this trick makes cleaning a grater much easier!

And all you need to easily clean a grater is a lemon wedge.

Lemon water

Before we get into this handy trick, though, we want to talk about how healthy lemon is for your body. Lemons contain vitamin B, C, potassium, proteins, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium and pectin. Pectin has a positive effect on your immune system, which means you’ll get sick less quickly. That’s why it’s very good for you to drink water with some fresh lemon juice in it. If you want to get the most out of your lemon water, it’s important to drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. This way it’ll be most effective when it comes to cleansing your body from toxins. Plus, it stimulates weight loss. That’s because your liver produces more bile if you drink the lemon water on an empty stomach. In turn, that leads to you being less hungry and digesting food quicker.

Clean grater

Cleaning all of those tiny holes in a cheese grater is extremely tedious work. Putting it through the dishwasher often isn’t enough to clean it either. Cheese or other things you’ve grated just remain stuck there. Luckily, we’ve learned of a very handy tip to easily clean the grater with a lemon. What do you need to do? Cut a lemon in two and run the side with the pulp over the holes of the greater. The acidity of the lemon will cut the grease and the flesh of the pulp scrubs the metal and gets into those annoyingly small holes. Let the juice and pulp sit on the grater for a while to let it do its thing and then rinse it under running water. The leftover bits of cheese and the lemon pulp will rinse away just like that!
